Job description

As a Sales Engineer at PHIX you will understand customers’ technical needs and find solutions, translating these into detailed quotes. With deep knowledge of integrated photonics, you will ensure customer requirements are met with high-quality and cost-effective solutions.

You will engage with customers to learn their needs, guide them using PHIX’s competences, and work closely with the Sales Manager. Responsibilities include providing pre-sales and post-sales support, making technical presentations, and translating customer demands into our technical roadmap.

Meeting with customers online and in-person, you will develop long-term relationships and align with internal teams to exceed customer expectations, ensuring high satisfaction and retention. Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Engage in dialogue with customers to fully understand their technical needs and guide them to solutions using PHIX’s processes and competences.
  • Translate customer needs into photonics packaging solutions, including calculating materials and hours for quotations.
  • Work closely with the Sales Manager to ensure a comprehensive understanding of each opportunity.
  • Meet with customers online and in-person, providing pre-sales and post-sales support, and developing long-term relationships.
  • Deliver technical presentations, perform pre and post-calculations, and translate customer demands into inputs for our technical roadmap.
  • Align with all internal disciplines to ensure customer expectations are met or exceeded, ensuring high satisfaction and retention.

Job requirements

  • Hold an BSc. or MSc. in engineering with specialization in photonics and at least 3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Demonstrate a proactive and accurate approach to driving revenue, with strong communication and writing skills.
  • Bridge the gap between customers in various disciplines and PHIX’s packaging and assembly offerings, providing creative solutions for complex questions.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment, work independently and as a team player, adapt quickly, and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Willingness to travel and experienced with CRM systems, preferably Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Understand the importance of a flawless customer journey, monitor satisfaction, and can provide trainings and technical seminars for different audiences.


  • Fluency in English
  • Proficiency in Dutch or willingness to learn
