Job Description:
Estel is now looking for Opto Engineers for our R&D Center in Sundbyberg, Stokcholm, Sweden.
The Opto Engineer (“OE”) is involved in the entire development cycle, from the early concept phase to product release. The specific tasks vary during this cycle.

Throughout the Project, the OE is normally the Engineering Lead for all optical related aspects. In this role, she/he works in close collaboration with specialists of different disciplines (e.g., electronics, mechanics, optics, test, NRE / manufacturing).
Responsabilities:
• Design of pluggable modules wrt optics
• Test and qualification of optical components
• ODVT of pluggables
• Technical support to our manufacturing team
Requirements:
• Ph.D. Degree in relevant field, e.g., photonic component technologies for telecom applications, optical transceivers, PICs, DSP ASICs, digital signal processing, coherent optics, optical transmission systems (access, metro, long-haul networks)
• Experience of driving the technical discussion with vendors / external partners
• 5 years relevant work experience
• In-depth theoretical understanding of the involved physics and technologies
• Significant, multi-year hands-on experience from fiber optic lab work (fully familiar with all standard equipment, e.g., OSAs, power meters, amplifiers, VOAs, BER instruments…)
• Fluent in configuring and performing advanced measurements
• Fully professional in analyzing, documenting and presenting results, emphasizing conclusions
• Strong Doer in the Lab with Teamwork Spirit
• Programming: Matlab, Python, VB.NET, (C/C++)
• Language: English, full professional proficiency
