As the Application Project Manager, you will participate in the conceptualization and implementation of optical fiber characterization benches and creation of photonic devices.

Interested? In this position, you can expect to:

  • Actively participate in the development of new products in collaboration with the product development team
  • Conceptualize test benches and support the team in setting them up
  • Analyze systems for the development of optical characterization solutions
  • Support the sales team with customer technical questions
  • Establish tolerance specifications for optical fiber testing
  • Design methods, setups and simulation tools to verify optical performance in typical systems
  • Assemble test benches and support production
  • Validate tests and then make the required adjustments
  • Once the assemblies have been completed (or test benches), set up the operating procedures
  • Train technicians in the use of fixtures or test benches
  • Ensure support and qualification of optical components and systems
  • Write various technical reports
  • Question and interpret test results
  • Process and analyze technical data
  • Complete the startup, verification tests and validation of equipment
  • Support the quality group for failure analysis
  • Participate in technology monitoring activities
  • Periodically participate in the systematic review of scientific or other articles concerting, in particular, technological innovations, new applications and competitive products
  • Support activities related to participation in certain conferences, meetings, and international committees to reaffirm your knowledge of specialized optical fiber and to establish a network or contacts with other scientists
  • If necessary, ensure the optimization of certain equipment and/or procedures
  • Collaborate in the equipment acquisition process by various research on what exists on the market, costs, quotes, etc.
  • Compile performance data
  • Test the repeatability of the measurements taken
  • Respond to production request in case of an issue with test and measurement equipment
  • Accomplish any other related task

We are looking for someone with:

  • Graduate or postgraduate university degree in engineering physics, optoelectronics, or equivalent training
  • At least 10 years of experience in a similar position
  • Experience in the manufacturing of technological products, including the operation of laboratory or production equipment
  • Knowledge of optical fiber, optical fiber or laser components
  • Computer knowledge (Office Suite, LabView), ease of integration of basic IT concepts
  • Experience in laser assembly
  • Experience in optical fiber fusion
  • Fluency in English and French
  • Ability to popularize information
  • Precision work skills requiring fine dexterity
  • Ability to comply with rigorous methodical processes
