This internship is offered as part of a CEA/Storengy collaboration; This involves developing a thermohydraulic modeling of gas storage based on the TrioCFD code. Storengy, an Engie group company, is one of the world leaders in underground gas storage. The company operates salt cavities for natural gas storage, and studies and carries out pilot storage of new gases in cavities, notably hydrogen. As part of this study, Storengy turned to the CEA’s Fluid Mechanics Modeling and Simulation Laboratory (LMSF) for these CFD-type modeling aspects of cavity gas storage. The LMSF develops physical modeling and software applications necessary for local-scale simulation of fluid mechanics, both for the needs of nuclear reactors and for other low-carbon technologies.
