Discusses layout and assembly procedures and problems with Engineers or management and draws sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units. Recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance. Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions. Sets up standard test apparatus or devises to conduct functional, operational, environmental, and life tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production model. Adjusts, calibrates, aligns, and modifies circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance. Checks functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions. Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, or engineering instructions for assembling electronics units, applying knowledge of electronic theory and components.
