The R&D Engineer II contributes to the support and development of software products and systems. In this role, the R&D Engineer II will collaborate with a team of expert professionals to understand High Performance Computing (HPC) environments of customers and enable them to successfully leverage HPC capabilities of Ansys Electronics software products. This includes coordinating with customers, application engineers, developers and system support engineers for troubleshooting customer issues and development of custom solutions.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs moderately complex diagnostics and troubleshooting activities to resolve customer issues in usage of HPC features of Ansys products.
  • Develops custom extensions to cater to HPC environments of customers.
  • Understands and employs best practices.
  • Performs moderately complex bug verification, release testing and beta support for assigned products.
  • Understands the marketing requirements for a product, including target environment, performance criteria and competitive issues
  • Works under the general supervision of a development manager

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with 2 years’ experience or MS
  • Working experience with software design and development methodologies
  • Demonstrated experience with Python or C++

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Technical knowledge and experience with any of the following: Job Schedulers/Distributed Resource Management Systems (DRMS), LSF, SLURM, Grid Engine, PBS, Containers, Docker, Kubernetes, Amazon Web Services, Azure, Google Cloud Platform
  • Experience in a large-scale commercial software development environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and to collaborate with others in a geographically distributed team
