Job Description:
The Quantum Processor Engineering (QPE) team at Oxford Ionics is responsible for the design, simulation, fabrication, packaging, and testing of our Quantum Processing Units (QPU). We are seeking a talented and motivated Photonics Development Engineer to focus on the engineering and testing of integrated photonics within our QPUs and ensure that our designs and parts meet the required specifications.

In this role, you will be responsible for defining, setting up, verifying, and conducting extensive testing dedicated to photonics. Your tasks will include collecting, recording, analysing, and appropriately storing data from these tests. You will also be expected to investigate and understand any deviations from expected results, ensuring that our photonics designs and parts perform as required.

You will need a Master’s or PhD in a relevant field or equivalent experience. Hands-on experience with optical setups and a basic understanding of wave optics are essential. You should have basic coding skills for measurement automation and data analysis. Experience in integrated photonics characterisation is desirable.
